Essential Care is an award winning organic certified range of skincare and beauty products that are hand made in the UK in small batches to ensure maximum freshness. It was established in 2003 and the company's founder created the first ever certified organic shampoo.
Essential Care is a family run company that supports fair trade and natural farming methods with an active commitment to caring for the environment. I am a huge fan of raw skincare and the plant oils that Essential Care use are virgin and cold pressed thus preserving the botanical's antioxidant and vitamin content. As some of the ingredients are raw they are more active and are more beneficial to the skin helping to prevent premature ageing.
With over 60 products Essential Care is one of the largest UK companies that are certified organic by the Soil Association.
I really appreciate the purity of Essential Care. I love the fact that they don't just produce skincare but also body care, haircare, makeup, essential oils and even supplements.
The company pride themselves on only using the finest natural and organic ingredients and staying away from irritant synthetic chemicals. Essential Care products are suitable for the most sensitive skin, even a baby's. Where possible they choose ingredients which are locally sourced from sustainable and renewable resources. All the ingredients used in their products except for the emulsifier beeswax, are plant derived.
If you are looking for good quality and very reasonably priced organic products then look no further than Essential Care.
This review is for the multi award winning Organic Rose Moisturiser.
Treat your skin to the best that nature can offer. A luxurious, antioxidant light-textured day-cream which is fully absorbed leaving the skin soft and velvety smooth. Deeply moisturising with shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil, aloe leaf, and the essential oil and hydrolat of damask roses. The cold-pressed plant oils, naturally high in antioxidants of vitamins A & E, and sea buckthorn help counteract the ageing and collagen-destroying effects of 'free radicals' and sunlight. Please note that this moisturiser is also suitable as an eye cream.
We make the Rose Moisturiser with:
- Organic shea butter (protecting and moisturising)
- Organic sea buckthorn (a rich plant source of a natural component of our skin, an Omega 7 fatty acid, the production of which declines with age)
- Organic coconut oil (moisturising, conditioning)
- Organic aloe vera (nourishing, repairing)
- Organic rose water
- Organic rose (gentle, calming and restorative)
Suitable for Vegans.
Product is Soil Association Certified.
Essential Care uses recyclable packaging that is manufactured in the UK and Western Europe and has not been air freighted to the UK. The Organic Rose Moisturiser comes in a white plastic airless pump which has a gold rim. It is very attractive to the eye and would look great on any dressing table or bathroom shelf. I am so glad that Essential Care decided to use airless packaging as it helps to keep the raw ingredients active and results in less preservatives being used. This airless packaging will keep even the last drop of this moisturiser active so they can work their magic on the skin.
Application and texture
Instructions for use: Apply Essential Care Rose Moisturiser to face morning and evening. Also suitable as an eye cream.
This organic moisturiser has a gorgeous light whipped lotion texture (see below for picture). Although it is very thin in texture, it is very moisturising probably due to the rich emollients such as the jojoba oil, coconut oil and shea butter it contains. The lotion sinks in beautifully and does not leave a greasy residue. The product can be layered for a sense of deeper hydration.

Results and review
This moisturiser has a wonderfully light lotion type texture, it hydrates and sinks in beautifully. I would say this product is great for all skin types, especially for those that want a pure anti ageing product. In my opinion rose is one of the best anti ageing ingredients you can have. It has over 300 compounds (some of which are yet to be identified) and it helps treat signs of ageing. As well as it's exquisite fragrance, rose oil has many benefits for the skin such as it's high antioxidant activities. Rose is also rich in an antioxidant called quercetin which has an anti-inflammatory action and restricts compounds that cause swelling. Anthocyanins pigments which are also present in rose oil help to protect skin cells and strengthen the capillaries in the skin. There are so many benefits of rose so I am glad that this nourishing lotion is rich in it and has three different forms of rose - rose water, rose extract and rose essential oil (all of which are organic).
Despite containing three forms of rose this does not have an overpowering scent of rose and is quite mild in terms of fragrance. I wouldn't say this has a feminine fragrance and a man could easily get away with using it.
This moisturiser also contains a rich source of organic sea buckthorn berries which are an anti ageing super star and healing ingredient. Sea buckthorn berries are highly nutritious which are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and are a unique high plant source of palmitoleic acid (Omega 7). Omega 7 is an essential skin component which declines with age. Sea buckthorn helps to promote healthy collagen production and cell regeneration.
Due to the healing properties of this moisturiser, it is excellent as an aftershave. I have been using it every morning after shaving and this helps to reduce any razor burn and eases any shaving rash. I love that this is so gentle and can be used on the face, neck and eye area making it a multipurpose product making it such good value for money.
This is ideal to use in the summer due to it's light weight texture. I have been using this moisturiser mainly in the day time but it's also suitable for night time use as it does not clog pores.
After six weeks of use I can safely say this results in a gorgeous glowing complexion. My skin looks clearer, plump and radiant. Its a great product to use underneath my sunscreen as it is not thick and pore clogging. The cream also contains no photo-toxic ingredients which also makes it perfect for day use. I look forward to using it every morning.
At £19 for 50ml it's an absolute bargain for such a multi-tasking problem solver and it is great for those who want to use organic products who are on a budget. I love that it contains 3 different forms of organic rose my ultimate favourite ingredient. 5/5 and definitely a repurchase, well done Essential Care you should be proud, it comes at no surprise that this is multi awarding winning.
